Research group of MF/UF/NF/RO membranes

The application of microfiltration (MF), Ultrafiltration (UF), Nanofiltration (NF) and Reverse osmosis (RO) membrane technologies in petrochemical industries involves purification and recovery of products and mostly, treatment of water and wastewater to produce utility waters. In order to develop these technologies in Iran petrochemical industries, High Technology Research Group has established the “Membrane and membrane technology center”, which one of the its branch is MF/UF/NF/RO group. Development of suitable substructures will be able to promote future activities and researches of petrochemical industries.

Overall goals and activities

  • Development of technical knowledge of membrane technologies
  • Preparation of membranes in industrial scale
  • Investigation of application potential of membrane technology in gas, oil and petrochemical industries
  • Resolving problem of membrane process units of gas, oil and petrochemical industries
  • Possibility of using membrane processes in recovery of petrochemical products
  • Reducing energy consumption by replacing membrane process instead of usual high energy consuming processes
Priorities
  • Design and fabrication of setup and pilot for testing laboratory prepared  and industrial membranes
  • Accessing to component formulation of reverse osmosis, nanofiltration and ultrafiltration membranes nd optimization of preparation conditions
  • Treatment of petrochemical industry wastewater using membrane processes
